Etihad Airlines

The Abu Dhabi based Etihad Airways is the national airline of the United Arab Emirates. “Etihad” means union or federation in Arabic and Etihad airways symbolizes the unity of the seven emirates. Etihad flights cover the Middle East, Indian sub continent, far East and North America.
Etihad Airways was established in the United Arab Emirates in 2003. Services were launched with a ceremonial flight from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain near Dubai and then to Beirut. Later, almost one new route was added per month.
In June 2004 the Etihad flew its first direct flight from the UAE to Geneva. Soon there was a non-stop flight from Abu Dhabi to Johannesburg. Ethihad Airways now flies to 37 destinations. It won awards like the World’s Leading New Airline of the Year Award in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and the World’s Leading Flatbed Seat in 2006.
Etihad's aim is to do things differently - reinventing the way an airline works. It emphasizes on better hospitality and food. At Etihad passengers are called ‘guests’ and have three guest zones - Diamond, Pearl and Coral - rather than classes.

In-flight entertainment:
Etihad uses a modern audio-video on demand system. This features over 350 hours of TV, movies and music. Etihad's newest aircraft (the B777-300ER, A340-500, A330-200 and A330-200) have a Plug-and-Play system, which works on USB technology, that allows passengers to watch their own videos, listen to their own audio-files and catch up on work using their own USB devices. The aircraft also has sockets for laptop connection. Few aircrafts also have in-flight telephony.

Diamond Zone (First class):
The Diamond zone guests get chauffeur-drive service at selected destinations. The Diamond Suites have seats that rotate 180 degrees and recline into 6 ft 8-inch flat beds. Each Diamond Suite is surrounded by a privacy shell and has direct access to the aisle. The seat has a built-in suit carrier, a mini-bar, a meal table, a personal mirror, a magazine rack, a reading light and a desk lamp. On the Airbus A340-500 aircraft, there is also a small seating area and bar in the cabin. The seat has pneumatic support, a headrest with six-way movement and a built-in massage facility. The dining for Diamond Class flaunts specially designed china, silver-plated cutlery and premium glassware. The Diamond Zone menu is prepared by award-winning international chefs. The Diamond Zone also has a 23-inch video screen.

Pearl Zone (Business class):
The Pearl zone is available on all Etihad's aircraft except the B767-300, A340-300 and oldest A330-200. The Pearl zone also offers its guests chauffer-drive at selected destinations at both the ends of the journey. The seat transforms into a 6ft 1-inch fully-flat bed and is equipped with individual lighting, a reading lamp, a magazine-rack, a massage facility, a meal table, a coat hook and a 15-inch screen. Pearl Zone meals are again prepared by award-winning chefs.

Coral Zone (Economy class)
For passengers arriving and departing from Abu Dhabi, a coach service is offered from Abu Dhabi city, Dubai and Al Ain to and from Abu Dhabi airport. The Coral Zone has ergonomically designed seats with lumbar support, headrests and footrests, and a seat pitch of up to 33 inches with 10.4-inch personal LCD screens.
Whichever Guest Zone you choose to fly in, there is warm hospitality and unparalleled personal service from the moment your journey begins. And because the Etihad fleet is one of the most modern in the air, you won’t have to miss out on any home comforts.
